Ingredients Instructions:
2 packages active dry yeast
1/2 c warm water (105-115 degrees)
1/2 c lukewarm milk (scalded then cooled)
1/2 c sugar
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1/2 c shortening or butter or margarine, softened
4 1/2 to 5 c flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening and 21/2 cups of the flour. Beat till smooth. Mix in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.

Turn dough onto lightly floured board, knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 min. Place in grease bowl: turn greased side up. Cover: let rise in warm place until double, about 11/2 hours. (Dough is ready if impression remains when touched.)

Punch down dough. Shape dough into desired rolls and coffee cakes. Cover: let rise until double, about 30 min.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Bake about 10 to 12 minutes, it depends how hot your oven is.

Also you can make cinnamon rolls from this. If you roll out and then put butter and cinnamon on it, rollup, pinch the ends to seal it. Stretch the roll a little and then cut, this you need to grease a pan for. Then make a simple powdered sugar glaze and you have some real sweet rolls. IF you take the center out a little it looks.

Comments / Description of recipe
This recipe is a very old one. I remember the cookbook that it came from my mother had it for years. All the pages were falling out of it.

My mother make this every special occasion. I have tried to make it but not as good as her.

Give it a try.
